60 participants attended the Presentation Day in Barton (Oxford, Oxfordshire, UK): a success! They discussed about the services offered by the Demand-Responsive Bus, which became operational last Monday and gathered ideas focusing on overcoming barriers to the usage of the service. Whereas the main target users are considered the elderly and people with disabilities, it is acknowledge that the service may remain underused as long as large parts of the local population either do not have a smartphone or are not comfortable in using it to book their trips.
Several ideas were collected to address this issue using the idea dashboard. For instance, it was proposed to have a phone-based booking system. Somebody recommended installing ad-hoc devices at desirable locations for people to book rides themselves and somebody else thought of employing people to incentivise use by explaining how to use the app.
Three more Mobility Lab activities this week and the upcoming Hackday (14 July 2018) will focus on finding more ideas and selecting the best ones. Visit the website again after mid-July to know more about the results.
