The first autumn winds are blowing away the summer memories but the great achievements of C4P over the summer stay. We have been keeping up the good work in Barton, where on Friday 16th August our Mobility Community members, pilot participants and experts came together at the Makerspace in the County Library, in the Westgate Shopping Centre. Twenty participants belonging to all the stakeholders’ categories attended the event, namely 4 citizen stakeholders, 10 stakeholders from local authorities, 2 from academia, and 4 from transport providers. The event was the occasion to combine the Presentation Day and Quadruple Helix Stakeholder (QHS) and meet important decisions!
During the first part of the event, the outcomes of the first round of pilot transport solutions tested this year in Barton were presented. Participants got to know more about the actual impact of the concessionary bus pass, the free shuttle service to affordable supermarkets and the face to face smartphone app training (read more about this here). Citizens actively engaged in group discussions and brought up their personal experience with taking part in the pilot.
To complete the picture, the monitoring methods and evaluation’s outcomes were also explained to the participants. Information packets were distributed, while charts and infographics supported providing the visual representation of the data gathered.
Introducing the participants to the impact of the three initiatives in the first phase of the day contributed to creating an informed and motivated audience that could actively engage with the analysis tools used in the QHS later. Further, the event was leveraged to expand the Mobility Community beyond Barton to prepare for the development of the scaled-up pilot into new neighborhoods. Bringing the achievements in Barton as an example, showed the potential of co-created interventions to all the other communities.
By the end of the day, both organisers and participants were extremely satisfied by the outcomes of the event. Everyone enjoyed the time together and participants left feeling that they provided a valid contribution to their community.
Stay tuned and don’t miss all the upcoming updates!
