Prototyping in Budapest focused on improving the Mobility Point pilot. The event was held in Budapest on 7 October 2019, in the form of a 3 hours workshop engaging with key stakeholders.
Starting from the outcomes of the first pilot round, the benefits and issues that emerged during the first round of the pilot at Zangaled Square were presented to the participants. The first question to be answered was then where to locate the new mobility points to replicate the intervention. This phase was kicked off with a brainstorming exercise, collecting the pros and cons linked to nine different potential mobility points in the city. The locations were presented on a printed canvas, where the key buildings of each area where visualized. Proposed mobility solutions were represented with small icons and added under each image. In parallel, pilot coordinators handed out information about the locations and presented the relative maps on screens. Participants’ opinion were then added on the canvas.
At the end, three major structural areas within Budapest were selected by the mobility community: a railway setting mobility point; a transport-hub like mobility point; a campus or park setting mobility point. Participants selected the specific locations in the city that fit into these structural areas. The campus/park setting will be located along the Danube River, close to the embankment hosting a large business park. The transport hub location will be at the metro exit of one of the metro lines in the city. The third location will be the Kőbánya alsó Railway Station, namely the railway setting.
Building on this first prototyping event, the pilot team will prepare to develop a Future Mobility Point in each of the three selected areas in the forthcoming piloting phase that is planned for the beginning of 2020.
