Between 19-21 September 2018, hundreds of people with different backgrounds will meet in Umeå, up North in Sweden, to discuss how transportation and mobility services can be environmentally friendly, inclusive, efficient and user-centred. This is an annual event, the CIVITAS Forum Conference, which regularly attracts policy makers, academics, mobility professionals, municipal employees, and project representatives from all over Europe to discuss topics related to transport and mobility.

This year, the conference is titled „Mobility for U and Me“ and tackles issues that concern sustainability and multimodality as well as the social dimension of mobility and the way transport shapes our lives and prospects. High-profile speakers at the event include Lena Erixon, Director of the Swedish Transport Administration; Maja Bakran Marcich, Deputy Director-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), European Commission; and Stina Nilimaa Wickström, Vice President of Product Design, Volvo Group. However, many more experts will delve into the most urgent mobility topics, including multimodality, Mobility as a Service, co-creation, e-mobility, and smart mobility solutions.

Why meet in Umeå? Because the city is one of Scandinavia’s leading exponents of sustainable urban development and mobility. This is exemplified by the smart university district or Umeå’s gender-sensitive infrastructure. Conference participants have the chance to explore and find out the best practices showcased by the city just by attending some of the most interactive sessions of the Forum. As a matter of fact, beyond traditional talks and panel discussions, guests will have the chance to experience more engaging formats, such as study tours, site visits, walkshops and hands-on experimentation of urban mobility tools. Moreover, as every year, the CIVITAS Awards will be assigned to officially acknowledge Europe’s most forward-thinking sustainable urban mobility policy and measures.

Why not exploring the full programme and registering here? Attendance is free and you still have time until the 10th September to book your seat and arrange your travel to an exciting destination. Cities-4-People will be there as well and we look forward to meeting you!
