    Five challenges for Altona

    By Cities4people | Event, Hamburg-Altona Lab, Past Event | Comments are Closed | 12 February, 2018 | 0

Our Hamburg team managed to invite and engage a diverse group of stakeholders from the region in a co-creation workshop on January, 15th 2018. The workshop took place in the Altona Technical Town Hall, a municipal building that many of the invitees know well.

The purpose of the workshop was to identify the mobility challenges and intervention areas for the Cities-4-People project. After a quick presentation to remind participants about the goals of Cities-4-People (which had been introduced in the previous three warm-up events), the focus was shifted on identifying a list of mobility challenges in Altona (notably Mitte-Altona Project and Holsten Area) and gather some initial ideas on possible interventions needed to overcome them.

Five challenges were selected and discussed in groups:

    • Connectivity of secure pedestrian and cycle paths (especially to schools)
    • Noise and pollution/air quality
    • Consideration of future trends and developments (e.g. automated vehicles)
    • Accessibility
    • Conflict of use of public spaces.

The next events (the consultation workshop, the Citizen Mobility Lab launch, the Presentation Day and the Hackday) will help strengthen the community and get it move from ideas to concepts to actual interventions targeting these challenges. Curious to know how the situation will evolve? Keep visiting the website, we’ll keep you up to date!
